Immersive Learning Quest: A Gamified Asynchronous Experience

Digital innovation is transforming education, creating engaging, flexible learning experiences that empower students with interactive and immersive tools. EHL’s asynchronous learning path exemplifies this by combining scenario-based learning, gamification, and multimedia elements to enhance engagement, knowledge retention, and independent study.

Immersive Learning Quest: A Gamified Asynchronous Experience

Tasked with creating an asynchronous alternative to a week of face-to-face teaching (i.e. 3 contact hours), we created an innovative learning path with an immersive scenario including some gamification elements such as competition and rewards. We worked with our in-house Digital learning Center (DLC) to design an interactive experience, using the digital tool Articulate 360 and a mix of images, dialogues and videos (in-house videos and others) with pop-ups, quiz questions and other activities.

Presented by Emmanuelle Faure

Objective: My objective was to use the unique features of asynchronous techniques to create an optimum asynchronous Teaching & Learning experience for our students while maintaining a sufficient emotional connection for effective learning.

Context: Launched at EHL with the help of a learning designer from our in-house Digital Learning Center (DLC), within the context of digitalization at EHL and the transformation of one week of face-to-face classes into an asynchronous week.

Duration: One BOSC 3 asynchronous week (corresponding to 3 contact hours of face-to-face teaching), for the foreseeable future.

Applicability: Any class size, small to large, as this is a totally immersive & asynchronous experience.

Student Feedback

“Very good and clear goals/ learning objectives”

“Really agree (“enjoyment”) as I was able to do it as many times as I wanted and the videos /case studies were very well explain / designed”

“I really enjoyed the asynchronous as it was well organized. I enjoy the fact we have a transcript so I do not have to worry taking notes of every videos. Thus, I can concentrate more myself on the content and asses my understanding with the quizzes that were very helpful. Additionally, it is great that for every question there is a complete explanation of the reason of the answer.”
