Event Description

The event welcomed several partners, including ArcInfos and InnoVaud, who shared insights on AI in the region, with topics ranging from AI in the Canton of Vaud to corporate social responsibility regarding AI. Our domain Economic & Service is represented in this committee through our colleague Prof. Reza Etemad-Sajadi.

The day was opened by our CEO Markus Venzin, who delivered an engaging welcome speech. He emphasized the importance of AI in the future of industries, highlighting:

"Maybe AI can help us solve the biggest problem we have in the hospitality industry, which is talent shortage. Maybe AI is creating a way to get the boring tasks out of their head, and generate more time for interesting human interactions, and for creating the hospitality vibe."

During his presentation, Markus showcased two of several AI-driven projects developed at EHL:

  • KITRO: An AI-powered food waste management system that automates the collection and analysis of food waste data, promoting sustainability.
  • The Avatar Remote Control Study Project: A collaboration with HEIG VD, supported by InnoSuisse, aimed at providing personalized services tailored to individuals, enhancing consumer experiences.

The event highlighted how AI is transforming various industries, particularly hospitality, by improving operational efficiency and creating opportunities for more meaningful human interactions.

Companies and SMEs were invited to take part in this event in order to :

  • Establish links with HES-SO professors and other companies working in the field of AI.
  • Explore various AI use cases through company presentations and applied research projects.
  • Gain an in-depth understanding of the Swiss AI Center's activities.
