About the Study

Led by Dr. Peter Varga and funded by HES-SO, this research investigates Cultural Intelligence (CQ) in the Swiss hospitality industry and responds to the evolving tourism landscape in Switzerland, especially with the rise of guests from India, China, and the Gulf States.. The study aims to:

  • Assess the current level of CQ among hotel staff
  • Identify culture-related challenges and opportunities
  • Understand guest expectations from key international markets
  • Develop CQ-based best practices to enhance service quality

  • A White Paper on best practices written based on the interviews conducted and/or presentations to each hotel visited, CQ online surveys and guests' online comments

Who Should Participate

We’re inviting professionals across all roles in hospitality operations, including:

  • Managers: Hotel Managers, F&B Managers, Department Heads

  • F&B Staff: Servers, Bartenders, Restaurant Hosts
